Can children with special developmental needs participate in a Kindermusik class?

A: Children with special physical, emotional and learning needs can participate in Kindermusik. It is recommended that you discuss the needs with the educator.

Do I attend class with my child?

A: Most classes require a parent or caregiver to accompany and participate with the child. The classes are designed to foster interaction between parent/caregiver and child. You are your child's first and most important teacher and Kindermusik activities are designed to strengthen the bond between parent and child.

Can I try a class before I register?

A: Absolutely! Call or email to set up a day and time to visit a Kindermusik class where you can meet the educator, talk with the parents, and enjoy the Kindermusik experience with your child.

Can I register at anytime during the semester?

A: Yes! Tuition is prorated for late registrations.

What if my child does not participate?

A: Most children adore music and love to dance, sing, and play musical instruments. A group music experience may be new to your child and he/she may be shy in the group. That is okay! Some children are naturally hesitant and some become over-stimulated in a group. You may see a completely different child at home as you share your Kindermusik activities there. That is normal and to be expected as home is where children are the most comfortable. Much of what a child sees and hears in class will be demonstrated at home.  It is the norm for many children to attend four or five classes before they begin to be comfortable and participate. Many spend the first few classes observing and that is okay! As long as your child is in the classroom and observing, he/she is learning! Keep in mind that Kindermusik is about process, not performance.

What are the Kindermusik materials?

  • Kindermusik materials are designed to meet the developmental needs of your child.
  • Professionally recorded CDs of the songs, chants, and music allow you to continue the Kindermusik experience at home and make your child feel comfortable and familiar with the class experience.
  • Home Activity Books contain the lyrics and notation for the songs and chants on the CDs, as well as, provide many ideas for activities to try at home and extend the classroom learning.
  • Storybooks help develop early literacy and are a great enhancement to your home library.
  • Specially designed child instruments enhance your child’s experience and aid in development.
  • Art Banners for infants to be used in a variety of ways to promote your child’s development.

Are the materials required?

A: Yes. In addition to attending classes with your child, you can continue the benefits of Kindermusik by using the activities at home where the entire family can participate and benefit. Children who use the home materials on a regular basis tend to participate and focus well in class. Music becomes a part of everyday life instead of just a once a week activity.
